The PGP program you see running is currently encrypting all data on your hard drive. We do this in case the computer is lost or stolen, to prevent people from recovering data from the drive. This process will take about 14-18hrs to complete and will run in the background, allowing you to use your computer normally in the interim. Please leave your laptop powered on during this time, even when you are not using. From now on, when you boot your computer you will see an extra login screen asking for your password or passphrase. This is the PGP screen and entering the correct password is needed to unlock the data on the hard drive. If you lose this password you must contact Fabienne or myself to recover it.
